Mani joined Wipro in July 1991, as Systems Manager in the Systems and Communications Group of Wipro Systems. Starting with handling projects for the Telecom Solutions group, Mani has played increasingly bigger roles from an Account Manager onsite in the US to a role as Business Manager for a Enterprise Networks group. In February 2000 he went on to head the Telecom Solutions Group's operations in Chennai, India.

He set up and headed Wipro Technologies’ KM Initiative in October 2000 and over three years, Mani was instrumental in architecting, designing and deploying the KM Initiative applications in Wipro Technologies.

In December 2003, he took over his current role as the Head of the Medical Devices Group in the Product Engineering Solutions Division.
